Databases Built for Researchers

Designed for the Field, Laboratory, and Archive

Your data collection deserves better than a spreadsheet or scattered folders of data on your computer. I design custom FileMaker databases for researchers who collect data in the field, in the lab, and everywhere in between.

Why Work With Me?

Most database developers don’t understand what researchers do. They’ve never managed samples or had students enter attributes without internet on a tablet at 4000 meters. I have!

A custom FileMaker database is a long-term research asset. FileMaker's visual interface means you can learn to make routine adjustments without a developer. I build systems you can adapt as your methods change, your team grows, or your project takes you somewhere new.
I take on just a few projects a year to help fellow researchers build a workable database system. I have designed and deployed FileMaker databases since 2011.

What I Build

Intuitive and functional relational databases that link your field sites, contexts, samples, images, inventories, and any other data in a single integrated system, deployed as an app on the iPad via FileMaker Go or accessible on any Mac or Windows computer with FileMaker Pro.

Who I Work With

Researchers in archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, environmental sciences, forensics, art history, collections management, and related disciplines, including those working in academic projects, CRM firms, museums, NGOs, and independent field programs.
